  1. Who is the "client owner"? For the business this would logically be the owner of the business. I don't "own" the client. Would be better to name this "client manager". This is needlessly confusing, as accountants we don't own clients.

  2. What we need to see is what subtasks are assigned to us. This should already be setup by default in Canopy. It's the whole reason to use Canopy, to track who is assigned to what. We shouldn't have to setup this for each new employee.

  3. We'd like to be able to enter time to clients that we don't intend to charge for. For example, client setup, we might spend an hour to setup a new client in our tax software in order to kick out a tax organizer. The trigger for chargeable time is when time is entered on a client, but it would be nice if the trigger was the service item being chargeable or not chargeable. Being able to pick whether a service item is chargeable or not would be very helpful.

  4. While the ability to move lines around on invoices is great, there are other improvements that should be made. Having a dedicated section at the bottom for credit card info would be great, we have a workaround for this but it gets cut off, goes to a 2nd page and doesn't look great.

  5. When searching for clients it would be nice if John and Jane Doe came up together. But if I search for Jane Doe as the spouse, it appears she is a separate client but with none of the functions of John Doe. If the search came up with both as one client with all the functions, it would make things easier. We have several clients with the same name but not the same named spouse. Then also a function to separate divorced or dead clients would be nice. For example when John Doe dies, we still have Jane Doe as…

  6. We have clients that pay us in advance before we have actually billed them. When I go to do a bill, it does not prompt me to apply these payments. I have to do the bill first and then redo the bill when (or if I actually remember) to apply the payments. There should be a notification to apply the payments before printing the invoice (if there are payments to apply entered in Canopy already).

  8. It would be great if Canopy offered a client facing/visible dashboard or "Pizza Style" tracker for tax preparers to communicate their tax filing status in a streamlined and visual fashion. While we can update status in the notes section or through other Canopy integrations, it would be great to have this available on the client portal. It doesn't need to be interactive, but just viewable on the client side. I'm envisioning something similar to the Domino's Pizza Status Tracker, where there may be 5 steps on the dashboard (doc collection, preparation, filed, etc), and these can be toggled on or…

  9. I would like to suggest an enhancement to the Canopy platform that would allow users to send bulk emails with embedded images.   10. Canopy's email tool currently can only forward the selected message to a recipient.

    Meaning that if the selected message is part of a larger email chain, when forwarded or replied to, the other emails in that chain and the context they provide are not included in the email.

    We believe it would be better to handle emails more like a traditional email provider including all the previous items in that chain as those items provide additional context.

  12. Many people do not respond to or even check their email so they never receive our document requests and/or appointment reminders. If Canopy could offer a "we need your documents before your appointment" texting option, even to integrate with an existing phone system like Ring Central, that'd be a HUGE time saver!

  13. When sending client requests they are being sent to the client as the following, "Giovanna needs you to provide the following information”. We would like this to show as just company name or a role so it doesn’t show a employees specific name. We have employees that switch clients all the time and don't want them getting confused with the recurring client requests.

  14. It would be great if there was a way to securely communicate within the Canopy app with the client. For example, you can chat within a client request, but the information remains there and is not easily accessible once the task is completed. Is there a way that could be set up on the main page without always having to generate a client request. That way Clients can ask questions or be asked questions without the risk of any information being compromised in an email.

  15. So sad the feature to mass send invite is gone! I have spent the last month getting all my clients setup and now that it is time to invite them all to the client portal, there is no more mass invite. Apparently the new version does not have this feature anymore. I am going to spend hours getting this done :(

    Highly recommend bringing it back.

  16. Add access to "Group" to Insights. We process reports with Invoice tota and write/up and write down by partner (client owner) but adding access to the field "Group" would really make these reports more useful

  17. Reoccurring tasks and subtasks should roll forward with default assignees such as "preparer level 1" rather than roll forward with specific assignees that worked on the project in the prior year such as Jane Doe...who may no longer work with the firm. As it stands Reoccurring tasks require a lot of reclassifications for assignees which makes the reoccurring option not functional for our firm.

  18. When I set up automated emails to be sent within a task, the email comes from "Canopy" and not my office. Clients are getting confused and wondering what the heck "Canopy" is - can you change that to read the company name instead please?

  19. Can we please have an option to change the Files tab back to the previous format. This new format has added so much more time to my work and has made things difficult. I cannot keep working on a half-baked system. Please give us an option to change it back.

  20. Be able to setup an automation upon client creation in canopy to auto assign task to this client. This is helpful in making sure no one gets lost through the cracks with onboarding new clients and that that moment they hit canopy there is a task to take action on.
