The new "Files" format is a downgrade.
The new "Files" update has overly complicated the format and added more friction. More difficult to navigate with x3 the clicks. It's less obvious when a client has uploaded files and more difficult to sort them. Overall, this update feels like a significant downgrade.

It is an absolute downgrade, all the way back to a school project for an entry level UI/UX class. The helpful "counts" don't "count" subfolders, which makes it useless since subfolders are widely used. The viewable screen is smaller since it is now subdivided. There are now TWO file folder navigation windows taking up the screen which is beyond redundant. The whole site is missing very basic UI/UX expectations around simple navigation and breadcrumbs. As a user you often find yourself viewing a notification or a file and you have no idea where you are, no task name, no client name. You are just on file "hdgsyergjchfs.png" So...why oh why did Canopy decide that the file folder navigation needed anyone's billable hours working on it? That is the real question I have since it speaks to me of the top-level being out of touch with the real priorities for their users. It almost feels like the CEO has a nephew who is a user and they changed it all to what he asked for lol. It feels that far from the mark. My whole team hates it.
They should offer their new "solution" in the settings/preferences as an option, not the new status quo. -

I agree! I truly despise the new layout. The format is so redundant and makes it more difficult to locate a file.

I agree. It's frustrating that the Client Info isn't available to view on the left side of the screen when I'm viewing client files. I can't view a document and be able to see the client's phone number to call them if I need to - I have to click on Home or one of the other tabs to see the Client Info, closing the Files tab. It's the only tab in the client profile that it disappears on. Multiple clicks, folders don't pop open when dragging files in, and the document viewing area is smaller are other complaints I have with the new format. Ugh!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who despises the new file setup. I thought I might just be unable to go with the flow, but the flow of files now is infuriating. The window to view an actual file is smaller, the permanent side menu view is useless - this is a lesson in paying attention to their improvement surveys despite having little to no time to help a company design their software, I guess.

This used to be such an easy, intuitive program. Now, it just doesn't flow - It's cumbersome and takes longer to do things. You took an easy to use program and made it harder. Total thumbs down!

Yes! Our office agrees with all the comments below, not very happy with the update. We need the ability to expand all the folders!

Agreed - so much more clunky. I hate that the folders don't pop open when dragging files.

The new format is not a good update at all; it is way less intuitive where things are located. Is there a way to switch back to the new format?

I thought it was me being used to the old view... but, I agree...it's not a good update. Clunky and a step back from previous version which made sense and flowed.

Our team 100% agrees. The screen is much more cluttered and takes multiple clicks to do anything. When a client uploaded files before the blue bar made it very obvious. The ability to expand all folders and to see all files at the same time has also been removed, as well as the Client View option. We are definitely not a fan of the new "Files" format.
